Kidloland Review

*Insert completely irrelevant image here* - it is cute though right?

I've been quite excited to write this blog post for some time now but waited until our 3-month subscription had ended so I could give a full honest review on the app. Sherry over at Kidlo contacted me back in July and asked if I would be interested in a 3-month subscription in return of an honest review of the educational app. Of course, I said yes!

Rhun doesn't have much screen time but when he does it's usually when we are out and about at doctors and hospital appointments, we all know how boring it can be in those waiting rooms when you're an impatient 3-year-old. This app has been an absolute godsend, in fact, both apps we reviewed have (I'll do a separate blog post on the other app we reviewed just to keep them separate).

There's a lot of negativity out there regarding screen time and handheld devices for young children but I think no matter how old we are and where we've come from, it's just the generation we are in. Mobiles, tablets, smart TV's and other interactive devices are just everywhere from Mcdonalds to play gyms.

Our children will come across them at some point or another. I was actually quite amused and very surprised when Rhun was watching TV one day to find Bob the builder with an Ipad!! Who even is he? That sure as chocolate isn't the same Bob I grew up with haha! Noddy is another one, all the children's TV characters we knew and loved as children ourselves have come back but again, with technology, there's no escaping it.

Kidloland is a fun learning app for children aimed at toddlers and pre-schoolers. It didn't take long for Rhun to get the hang of things and he was able to navigate himself around the app menus very easily. It's got a very child-friendly design, nice clear fonts, bright colours and easy to navigate interface - happy child, happy momma!

Kidloland offer a 7-day free trial to see if you like it before purchasing. The monthly subscription cost which gives you FULL access to over 100 nursery rhymes, loads of games, hundreds of learning songs and stories is just £3.99 per month with no commitments and you can cancel the auto-renewal anytime. It's an absolute bargain for the number of activities your child can do. I think the huge plus as a parent is that it is totally KidSafe certified - meaning there are no ads inside. There's nothing worse than clicking on what you think might be a great app to find out later down the line that it's full of ads or in-game purchases.

I like the fact that it's so engaging, even the nursery rhymes are interactive so your child can click on the characters too. It's absolutely jam-packed full of activities your child will not get bored of it, at all!

Setting the app up took me a little while as you have to download all the different areas (though it does give a bulk download option, handy!). I obviously did this whilst Rhun was in bed and whilst it was connected to Wifi. Once everything was downloaded it runs off absolutely no data at all. This has been fantastic for our newest tablet the Amazon Fire as it doesn't work from a sim card and only works via wifi so apps like this are all we can really use on it.

Rhuns' development whilst using this app has been phenomenal. He has come on in leaps and bounds with his phonics and letter tracing. He has never really been all that interested in nursery rhymes either until we started using the app. He would always shy away from singing nursery rhymes and joining in but because the app is so engaging for children his age he soon found his voice and started singing along to them.

I think Rhun has taken a loving to 'Chomping Monsters' on the app as this was by far the most played area I always caught him on.

I love how smooth the app runs too, I found a lot of other 'educational' apps very slow to load, they lag quite often and usually require a lot of memory - none of which I've found applies to Kidloland.

Now our 3-month subscription has ended I will 100% be purchasing the full app as we have just found it invaluable. It's worth every single penny and we are so grateful we were introduced to it.

Thank you so much to the team at Kidlo for inviting us to review this app, we enjoyed every minute of it and cannot fault any part of it.

Head on over to the Kidlo website or search for the app in the app store.

*We were asked for an honest review of this app in return of a 3-month subscription, these views are totally 100% my own honest opinions and in no way is this a biased review*
